The Shapeshifter edition by Joseph Rubas Literature Fiction eBooks

Harlow, Montana is a peaceful community nestled in the lush Scandinavia Valley. Surrounded by mountains and rivers, it’s the kind of place where everyone knows each other’s name and no one locks their doors.
Then the unthinkable happens.
A local woman in violently attacked in her home. Sheriff Dale Parker, a Desert Storm vet with a painful past, is at a loss. Things like this just don’t happen in Harlow.
Meanwhile, Allen Sommers, a Native American handyman trying to get his life back on track after a stint in prison, listens in shock as his neighbor confides in him “I saw Freddy Krueger in my mirror last night.”
Before long, strange things are happening in Harlow, and people are beginning to die, viciously murdered by beings that shouldn’t exist. Allen Sommers remembers tribal tales from his youth. The Shapeshifter, they said, can take the form of whatever scares you, and feeds not on your blood but on your fear. Surely the old legends can’t be true.
As the death toll rises and paranoia descends over Harlow, Dale Parker and Allen Sommers find themselves bound together and destined to stop...
…THE SHAPESHIFTER.
From Joseph Rubas, the author of The Hotel San Digot, Snowbound, and Fury comes a chilling tale of terror and madness. THE SHAPESHIFTER. It knows what you’re afraid of.

Here's the deal. Amazon has allowed anyone with some free time and a desire to write, a platform to sell their ideas. The quality of these stories vary from outstanding to poor...at about the same ratio as those writers with publishing deals...as a guy who reads a lot, I love the trend...I love reading new material from new writers...enter Joseph Rubas and his (I'm guessing) first work, "The Shapshifter."It's a quick read that I thoroughly enjoyed. The prose are snappy and clear...the internal dialog of the sheriff was quite funny...good use of tension, almost noir(ish) in tone...and the thrills are darn good for a novice writer(which is why I'm giving it 5 stars)...for me, Joseph does a great job at creating believable characters...look forward to more books.

The Shapeshifter edition by Joseph Rubas Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Wow this was a quick but very entertaining read well worth the asking price eagerly looking for the next offering from this author
I thought this was a really fun read - reminiscent of some of the great early X Files episodes, with a bit of a sharper and darker edge to it. Rubas does a great job establishing tension throughout the story and presents a well thought out mystery that offers a few surprises and twists. The main characters in the story had interesting and unique textures to them, and I thought they all lent a solid support system to the narrative. Rubas has a good narrative voice that I found engaging and unique. My main complaint, and the reason why I ultimately gave this three stars instead of four, is that I thought the ending felt a little rushed and I would have liked to have seen maybe a few more chapters. Other than that, great debut from an exciting and fresh author.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
